If all over patent is too much for you then why not try patent leather combined with some other fabrication such as suede, leather or fabric.

Combining patent with something else just helps to break up the all over shine and creates an interesting look. Choose contrasting colours if you want impact or stick to the same colour which will create a contrast between the dull and shiny surface.
