Christine Fromont of Personal Style answers: I presume by ‘thick heels’ you mean as opposed to thin ones or stilettos. (We are talking heels, not soles, here, right?) The first thing to consider is your lower leg and ankle area - if your legs are on the thin side and you have a delicate ankle, thick heels are going to look too big on you - a la Minnie Mouse. On the other hand, if your legs are more substantial, you are able to wear the thicker heel, as it will be in proportion. However, generally speaking, summer ¾ or ½ length pants look better with a strappy sandal with a fine medium heel. They can also look good with a wedge heel. The wedge heel would look better than the thick heel you were asking about. In brief, your heels need to be in proportion to you and also to match the mood of the clothing. Thicker heels such as a ‘stacked’ heel for example are more formal than those mentioned above - they are better for business than casual. If you would like to contact me direct, I would be happy to discuss a specific situation with you. |
